Silver Jewelry

Sterling silver is a precious metal and may require cleaning from time to time. With some simple care you can preserve your jewlery for many years to come.
All sterling silver will tarnish over time, that happens when it comes into contact with agents such as skin creams, perfume, sulphur, salty air, hairspray, chlorine and acidic skin ph. The amount of oxidation (tarnish) that occurs is dependent on the skin and care habits of the wearer. Tarnishing is not a manufacturing fault!

Cleaning your jewelry

To clean your jewelry, use a small amount of silver jewelry cleaner on a soft cloth and gently rub the silver several times. Then rinse the silver thoroughly in warm water and carefully dry. This will remove the tarnish and dullness. You can also use a jewelry polishing cloth to brush your jewelry, keeping your sterling silver like new. Please note that chlorine and bleach accelerate tarnishing and should be avoided.

About oxidized jewelry

An oxidized finish is the deliberate blackening of crevices in the ornamentation of a silver object to make its decorative details stand out more clearly. Take care as this finish can be removed by overzealous cleaning and polishing. We recommend you to use only the jewelry polishing cloth to brush your oxidized jewelry because otherwise you may remove some of the wanted finish.

Bronze Jewelry

Bronze is an alloy commonly made of copper and zinc.Over time, as bronze is exposed to the elements, it loses its luster and becomes tarnished, developing a green patina which coats the surface of the bronze.

Cleaning your jewelry

To clean your jewelry, use a small amount of brass cleaner on a soft cloth and gently rub the bronze several times. Then rinse the bronze thoroughly in warm water and carefully dry. This will remove the tarnish. You can also use a jewelry polishing cloth to brush your jewelry, keeping your bronze jewelry like new. Sometimes, the copper content in your bronze jewelry can react with your sweat, turning your skin green where the metal touches it. This is not known to be harmful. It is not an allergic reaction and can happen to anyone without adverse effects. Because copper deficiency is a health issue, some people specifically wear jewelry with copper so their bodies can absorb the required mineral. If your skin is stained, simply take off your bronze jewelry and wash the green skin with soap and water. It is not permanent and is very easy to get rid of.
